    CLIA Names Thomas Fischetti Chief Financial Officer

    Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) today announced that it has named Thomas Fischetti to the position of chief financial officer, reporting to CLIA President and CEO Christine Duffy. His responsibilities for the global cruise industry trade association include financial management, accounting, contracting and internal controls, IT, human resources and oversight of the association’s facilities.

    Cruise Industry and Seattle Works Host Volunteer Event to Support Seattle Parks’ Restoration of Golden Gardens

    Over 50 volunteers participated today in Golden Gardens Park restoration efforts, hosted by Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and its member lines Holland America Line, Seabourn, Windstar Cruises, and Paul Gauguin Cruises in partnership with volunteer organizers from Seattle Works, representatives from the Port of Seattle and staff from Seattle Parks and Recreation. The event included restoration of the park’s shoreline, dunes and wetland.

    WASHINGTON, D.C., December 17, 2012 – Nine cruise industry associations today announced they have agreed to operate under a common organization with a unified structure to serve as the voice and advocacy leader of the global cruise industry. The associations are Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), European Cruise Council (ECC), Asia Cruise Association (ACA), Passenger Shipping Association (PSA/ACE), France’s AFCC, Brazil’s ABREMAR, Northwest and Canada Cruise Association (NWCCA), Alaska Cruise Association (ACA), and International Cruise Council Australasia (ICCA).

    CLIA Expands with National Organization in Germany

    Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) today announced the establishment of CLIA Germany at the world’s biggest tourism fair ITB Berlin 2013. The new national association will be headquartered in Hamburg and will be chaired by Michael Ungerer, CEO of AIDA Cruises. This follows CLIA’s Jan. 30 announcement of its expanded resources in Europe with CLIA Germany joining CLIA UK and Ireland and CLIA Netherlands as a part of CLIA’s newly established global structure.

    CLIA Backs Global Effort to Facilitate Shore Leave for Crewmembers

    Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) today announced its support of efforts being led by the International Shipping Federation (ISF) to facilitate shore leave for seafarers. These efforts are being made through a request that port States make provisions for crewmembers to be able to apply for visas upon arrival in port or very shortly before arrival if the port State requires a visa for shore leave.
