Cruise travel is becoming the vacation of choice around the world, quickly outpacing leisure or land-based travel. In fact, according to industry research, over the ten years from 2004 to 2014, global cruise vacations have grown faster in popularity than global land-based vacations by a 20 percent margin.1
Additionally, according to the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) 2016 State of the Cruise Industry Outlook, the industry shows no signs of slowing down with 24 million passengers expected to sail in 2016, up from 23 million in 2015. Travel agents are also predicting a higher demand for cruise travel. Eight out of 10 CLIA Travel Agent Members stated they are expecting an increase in cruise sales in 2016 over last year. 2
