Washington, DC, August 5, 2015 – Cruise Lines International Association announced that Neil Linwood has been named Managing Director of CLIA Australasia. Linwood was promoted to this new role as the Australasia cruise industry continues to grow and the organization’s membership needs expand.
In his new role, Linwood will oversee strategic direction and government relations for the organization, as cruise lines continue to bolster their presence in the region and the number of Australian cruisers surges. Linwood will focus his efforts on regulation and infrastructure.
Linwood has held the position of Executive Director for CLIA Australasia since 2014. Prior to CLIA, he served as Senior Vice President, Strategic Development at Carnival Australia.
“Neil’s new role is a testament to the great work he has already done for CLIA Australasia and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have him leading the team to support the rapidly growing industry in Australasia,” said Tom P. Ostebo, President and CEO of CLIA.
In addition, Brett Jardine has assumed the role of Commercial Director and will focus on CLIA Australasia’s role in training and liaising with travel agents. Jardine will oversee CLIA’s burgeoning membership ranks in Australia and New Zealand.
“Neil and Brett have been an outstanding team in Australasia and we are excited by this new alignment of roles,” said Gavin Smith, CLIA Australasia Chairman. “Neil will leverage his extensive experience to focus on our expanding needs across the region in government affairs, port development and strategy, and Brett will continue his great work in boosting our numbers and liaising with trade.”
