Apr 23, 2013

Washington, DC — April 23, 2013 — CLIA and its members headquartered in the Seattle area: Holland America Line, Seabourn, Windstar Cruises and Paul Gauguin Cruises, in partnership with volunteer organizers from Seattle Works and staff from Seattle Parks and Recreation, will be at Golden Gardens Park in Seattle on Tuesday, April 23, to participate in a park clean up event in honor of National Volunteer Week this week and Earth Day, April 22. Click below to listen to a special message from CLIA CEO Christine Duffy on this event:

Seattle has become one of the most popular cruising destinations in the U.S. – and Washington sees the sixth largest economic impact from the cruise industry among all states, where the cruise industry generates nearly 18,000 jobs for Washington workers – that equates to $851 million dollars in income in a year. Every person that boards a cruise ship brings dollars to area hotels and restaurants, and supports local businesses, which has a major economic impact on the region.
