1,400 Travel Agents Registered for June 2-6 Conference/Trade Show Fort Lauderdale, FL — April 13, 2010 —
Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has closed registration forcruise3sixty 2010, June 2-6 in Vancouver, with over 1,400 travel agents registered, marking another sellout for the cruise industry’s largest annual conference and trade show. The response of the agent community is matched by cruise line and supplier participation in the trade show where only a very limited amount of space remained available at press time.
CLIA will maintain a waiting list for agents who had not registered by today, should cancellations occur.
“The industry’s response to cruise3sixty this year has been tremendous. It is obvious that our travel agent members recognize the vital importance of coming together in this challenging business environment to learn and advance their professional training, network with colleagues and cruise lines, and catch up on the latest developments in cruising,” said Terry L. Dale, CLIA’s president and CEO. “And, we cannot minimize the appeal of Vancouver itself, which served as a strong incentive for many agents in deciding to attend.”
Establishing a cutoff at 1,400 registrations ensured that all participants would get maximum benefit from all aspects of cruise3sixty, according to Bob Sharak, CLIA’s executive vice president. “We would love to have unlimited registration, but the fact is we want to do everything we can to guarantee an optimal experience for everyone attending. Limiting the number of registrations ensures that everyone has adequate access to general sessions, workshops and seminars, social events and ship inspections.
“If there is a lesson to be learned by this year’s sellout, it is to be sure to register as early as possible for next year’s cruise3sixty,” he continued. In 2009, CLIA opened registrations for cruise3sixty 2010 in Vancouver the day the conference closed in Fort Lauderdale and received 500 registrations immediately. Registration for cruise3sixty 2011, April 14-17 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center, will open this year on June 6.
