New York, NY — November 20, 2012 — The Cruise Lines International Association hosted a lunch Sunday, November 18, to benefit the Port Authority Police Benevolent Association (PAPBA) Widow’s and Children’s Fund, in partnership with The Cruise Industry Charitable Foundation (CICF). CICF donated $25,000 to the Fund.

The benefit took place aboard the Norwegian Jewel, with Norwegian Cruise Line CEO Kevin Sheehan introducing CLIA President and CEO Christine Duffy. Rep. Peter King, R-NY; Paul Nunziato, President of PAPBA; Michael Fedorko, Superintendent of the Port Authority Police; members of the PAPBA Board of Directors; the PAPBA Pipe and Drums Band and Honor Guard; 11 Port Authority officers, and 70 family members were also in attendance.

Duffy introduced PAPBA, and thanked all its members and their families for their service and sacrifice, saying, “The cruise industry works closely with the Port Authority Police each day as their officers help ensure the safety and security of our passengers, crew, and ships as they patrol the numerous ports in New York and New Jersey, as well as JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark airports, through which many of our cruise passengers travel. Thank you to PAPBA, to the Widow’s and Children’s Fund, to the Port Authority Police of New York and New Jersey, and especially to their families. It is an honor to be able to recognize and support their service, sacrifice, and dedication to this community.”

The Port Authority PBA Widow’s and Children’s Fund, a 501 (c)(3) charity, was incorporated on March 2, 2004 to provide and maintain bereavement benefits to aid and assist Port Authority Police Benevolent Association (PBA) Officers and their families in the immediate aftermath of an accidental injury or death.
