    Bringing specialized certificate programs online, Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has announced that travel agents can now expand their business with the new Meetings & Events at Sea Certificate Program. The program, designed in partnership with Meetings Professional International (MPI), will allow travel professionals the chance to become an expert in booking events on a cruise ship.

    CLIA Releases First Cruise Industry Consumer Outlook

    Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) released the first Cruise Industry Consumer Outlook of 2017, revealing traveler insights, outlook, and attitudes regarding cruising and land-based travel. This is the first in an installment of three 2017 outlooks and was conducted in partnership with J.D. Power to gain insight into consumer travel behaviors and opinions. This installment found that cruise popularity is on the rise amongst consumers and there is a surge of interest in cruise travel, among other key points.

    National Travel Agent Day is May 3, 2017 and Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) is celebrating the more than 25,000 CLIA-member travel agents globally that help to navigate the many cruise choices for passengers.     Andreas Chrysostomou becomes Vice President European Government and Public Affairs At CLIA Europe

    Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) announces that Andreas Chrysostomou has joined the organization as Vice President, Public and Government Affairs for Europe. Chrysostomou will be responsible for managing the department of European Affairs covering these areas, including liaising with European institutions and other bodies or agencies. He will play a key part in leading CLIA Europe’s strategic advocacy vision and managing regulatory matters, legislative affairs, lobbying and public affairs. His work coordinated with a team of four experts will be shared with the global management.

    Travel Trade Industry Joins Coalition to Combat Wildlife Trafficking Worldwide

    Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), American Society for Travel Agents (ASTA), and Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), announced today they will be working to help travelers recognize and avoid purchasing the illegal wildlife products that are decimating global populations of elephants, rhinos, tortoises and other endangered species. These actions support the mission of the U.S. Wildlife Trafficking Alliance (the Alliance), a public-private partnership in which corporate and non-profit member organizations, including WildAid and World Wildlife Fund (WWF), work together with governmental entities to raise awareness about the dangers of wildlife trafficking and to stop consumer demand for endangered species products. Together, the Associations serve more than 25 million travelers annually.

    Cruise Lines International Association Forms Alliance With Professional Travel Agents of North America

    Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) announced today it has formed an alliance with the Professional Travel Agents of North America (PTANA) organization. PTANA, formed in 2009, has joined CLIA as a 2017 Premier Member and has committed to 100 percent CLIA membership adoption among its approximately 150 travel agencies and 600 travel agents across 10 chapters nationwide.
