CLIA Super Savings Club Business & Benefits

Q&A for CLIA Travel Agents
Why should I as a CLIA travel agent join Pegasus Commission
Processing?
- There are many, many benefits of membership in Pegasus Commission
Processing. This is why over 100,000 travel agencies around the world
have already chosen to be members of this unique service. As a member of
Pegasus you will receive one consolidated hotel commission payment, in
the currency of your choice on behalf of Pegasus participating hotel
brands.* Commission data is generated from each participating hotel's
actual check out records, giving members the assurance that all stays
have been reported accurately. And with Pegasus Commission Processing's
Electronic Statement File, members can reconcile hundreds of commissions
in seconds. Agents can be assured that their commissions are paid
regularly and on time. As a member of Pegasus Commission Processing,
agents also have access to the Travel Agency Support and Research
Centers who work on the agency's behalf to track down any non-reported
commissions from participating hotels.
Who is Pegasus Commission Processing? What makes them qualified to
handle this service? How do I know that Pegasus Commission Processing will
truly pay me all my commissions and not pocket some?
- Pegasus Commission Processing was formed by several of the world's
major hotel companies in 1992 to better serve their travel agency
partners, such as your self. It was agreed that an independent and
objective processor would best serve the travel agency community. On a
monthly basis, Pegasus Commission Processing processes more than $40
million in commissions for over 30,000 hotels in 160 countries.
- Pegasus Commission Processing also has a solid company backing. It's
part of Pegasus Solutions, Inc., a travel industry leader that works
with hotels, travel agencies, meetings and convention planners and
corporate travel departments around the world.
Why do I have to pay for the service?
- The cost of this value-added service is shared between hotel and
travel agency participants. By joining Pegasus Commission Processing,
you'll save time and money normally spent on chasing down your
commissions, plus you'll likely receive more commissions.
- Many Pegasus Commission Processing travel agency participants say the
benefits of Pegasus Commission Processing's service far outweigh the
minimal cost you pay.
Will participating in the Pegasus Commission Processing service save
my travel agency money?
- Yes. You can reduce staff time spent on handling multiple checks,
deposit slips and bank runs; eliminate bank fees for multiple deposits
and currency exchanges; better manage cash flow; and reduce expenses
such as postage and long-distance telephone for tracking bookings that
result in cancellations and "no shows."
Will I get more commissions from hotels by using this service?
- To participate in Pegasus Commission Processing, hotel companies
agree to pay 100 percent of their travel agent commissions. If you book
a Pegasus Commission Processing hotel, you can be sure you'll receive a
commission on an actual commissionable guest stay.* Many of our travel
agencies report that their commissions show a marked increase after
becoming members.
What hotel chains participate in Pegasus Commission Processing for
CLIA commission payment?
Does this mean that I can only book hotels that are a part of
Pegasus Commission Processing?
- No, but Pegasus Commission Processing will only collect and
consolidate commissions for you from the hotel brands that participate
in Pegasus Commission Processing.*
How do I make hotel reservations? Will it change when I join?
- Continue making hotel reservations as you always have. Pegasus
Commission Processing will use your ARC and/or CLIA number(s) to track
the commissions due to you. If your agency currently receives
commissions via a hotel assigned "pseudo" number, please
provide Pegasus with those numbers and the corresponding hotel brand for
additional tracking.
How often will I get paid?
- Monthly. Consolidated checks are issued and mailed to each agency on
or before the 15th business day each month that contains all of the
commissions due to you for actual guest stays the month before. In order
to avoid potential mail delays or lost items, we urge you to sign up for
direct deposit. This option is available for U.S. bank accounts only.
What currency will I be paid in?
- Pegasus Commission Processing has the ability to pay agents in 41
different currencies. You will be paid in the currency of your choice.
Just let us know your preference when you enroll, or call us with an
update to your account.
What kind of hotel information will I receive with my payment?
- Pegasus Commission Processing provides easy-to-read monthly
management reports detailing actual guest stays, "no shows"
and cancellations by hotel chain, as well as booking source (GDS, direct
to property, central reservation system, etc.). This information is
generated from each participating hotel's actual check out records to
ensure thoroughness and accuracy in reporting each guest stay. The
information provided, including no-shows and cancellations, allows you
to measure activity by client to validate service fees. It also saves
you time and money that would normally be spent trying to track "no
shows."
- The monthly statement is available on paper or electronically via
e-mail or diskette. The electronic statement file is compatible with
most back office accounting systems for automated reconciliation and
commission tracking. To avoid mail delays, the electronic statement is
the primary method of delivery.
Which back-office systems is the monthly electronic statement
compatible with?
- The monthly electronic statement is compatible with many back office
systems including TS2000/GlobalWare, TravelBase (Note: Travelbase is not
currently compatible with the e-mail version), Travcom, Right Track and
Unitracks, Unisys, and TRAMS.
