Oceania Cruises recently topped its previous single-day booking record by nearly 25 percent, the luxury cruise line operator said in a release last week. The milestone was driven by advance reservations for its newest ship Riviera, and the launch of its 2012 European cruise collection.

The $2.4-million design project for the new terminal will begin this month. Actual renovation work will also begin this year, with a targeted opening date by the third quarter of 2012. “Today is a major milestone toward the realization of the Union Pier Concept Plan,” said City of Charleston Mayor Joseph P.
