"WORLD?S LARGEST CRUISE NIGHT" GIVES TRAVELERS EVEN GREATER INCENTIVE TO SAIL AWAY ON A VACATION AT SEA

Fort Lauderdale September 30, 2009 —

$1,000 savings on a Christmas or winter cruise in Europe, “companions sail free” offers, hundreds of dollars in shipboard credits on sailings through the end of 2010, 50 percent savings on international airfares, $100 per person discounts, and the cruise industry is about to offer consumers even more!

Ask any of the more than 10 million North Americans who took a cruise last year what they liked best and the large majority will say “value for money spent.” That is one reason the cruise industry enjoys one of the highest repeat customer percentages of any type of vacation. With World’s Largest Cruise Night (WLCN), on October 14, travelers will have even more opportunity to enjoy even greater value.

WLCN, which actually offers shoppers a range of booking windows into November, is designed to showcase special offers made by the 25 member cruise lines of CLIA and their thousands of travel agent partners throughout North America. In 2008, the event generated more than $40 million in cruise sales as vacationers jumped at the chance to save. In addition to a “Virtual WLCN,” where consumers can go online and obtain all the information they need on special offers, view videos and contact participating travel agents, there will be special events during the 24-hour period on October 14 at travel agencies around the country.

It’s easy for vacationers to take advantage of the special offers of World’s Largest Cruise Night: simply visit CLIA’s website at www.cruising.org, click on the WLCN logo and use the locator to find a conveniently situated participating travel agent or a special agency event.
